“A warm welcoming home”
We enjoyed a really lovely Easter break at Chestnut Farmhouse. It was easy to book, communication was good and the House itself was really lovely. Spacious and comfortable. Really large lounge with plenty of seating and a woodburner. A well equipped kitchen with a large table and seating for 10 people. The bedrooms all tastefully decorated and really comfortable beds. A great house for spending time with family and friends (not much within walking distance, although we did find nice beer in small bar at start of village and a good supermarket 5 mins drive in other direction). We visited keukenhoff gardens, a great day out. Amsterdam (a 30 min drive ) good fun, Gouda and on the way home (we drove from the euro tunnel) Brugge for waffles and chocolate. Would thoroughly recommend and would love to return.
“A very special trip”
The home was the heart of a very special trip. Only made better by the lovely town, landscape and surroundings. It was peaceful – yet only 30 mins or less from
everything on our list of places to visit while in Holland. We came as a family of six and had more than enough room. We looked forward to the mornings on the deck sitting on the edge of the canals, and evenings cooking together and enjoying the sun sets. Could not ask for a better home stead for our vacation. We’ll hope to return again sometime!
“A lovely house in a beautiful area”
Our family of 6 spent a week here enjoying the local area and taking day trips to local towns and to Amsterdam. Cycling around the polder area was very interesting and easy, this was our first trip to the Green Heart of the Netherlands. Gouda and Leiden are both worth a visit, we really enjoyed the Windmill museum in Leiden and buying/eating mature Gouda cheese in Gouda town square. The house is comfortable and well maintained. Everyone we met was friendly. I’m sure we’ll be back to the area someday.
“Perfect for our writers’ retreat”
In November, eight of us rented the Chestnut Farmhouse (5 bedrooms) and accompanying Lodge (2 bedrooms) for our fall writing retreat. It was the ideal place for long, leisurely meals in the kitchen and lots of critiquing and brainstorming in the large living room by the wood stove.
Lovely countryside, with a butcher and grocer and other basic shops five minutes away by car.
Highly recommended.
“Fantastic place in centre of Holland!”
A perfect place, we felt very welcome. You feel at home and it was spotlessly clean. There were even free logs avaible for the fire. Lots of nice things to do in de neighborhood. We will come again!!
“Holland at it’s best to celebrate life”
Nature and fun for everyone. We celebrated my mother’s 75’s birthday, with my 25 year old daughter, three generations fitting perfectly in a cozy paradise. It can’t get better than this, it was the best and excellent choice for our unique celebration, a cozy home away from home, to relax, or reach touristic places in less than an hour since is close to every place you want to visit in The Netherlands. After a busy day the “Chestnut Lodge” was the best place to relax and enjoy nature. We are coming back soon.
“Beautiful and peaceful location”
We had a wonderful time in the Chestnut Lodge. The surroundings were beautiful and the local village had everything we needed. Had a great time at the local open air pool and on the boating lake. House was fitted and furnished to a very high standard and the owner was very helpful. Would definitely stay again.
“Lovely, cozy, beautiful”
Stayed over New Year with an extended family of 9. Ages ranged from 3 months to 80 years. We all loved it and had a great time. Lovely house, Living room in particular really cozy. Lovely area. Cannot recommend the house highly enough. Ticks all the boxes. Looking forward to staying again some time soon. Leaving was the hardest part of the whole experience.
About our location
central but very rural
The Farm House and Lodge are situated on an extensive field next to the water in the rustic village of Aarlanderveen, near the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. We respect this rural and quiet environment and we also ask this from our guests. Chestnut Farm House and Lodge are close to the major cities of Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and Rotterdam, as well as the North Sea beaches, Giethoorn and Volendam.
