Farm House

“Wonderful villa in a great location”

We stayed as a group of 10 friends. The house is awesome, huge and modern. The heating works great, all windows have built-in roll-down mosquito nets, the beds are comfy. Kitchen and living-room are massive (at least for dutch standards) and fit 10 people with ease. The provided BBQ is huge – make sure to bring sufficient amounts of coal. Some kitchen stuff was “missing”. No coffee-maker, no tea-strainer, only two cutting-boards (while cooking for 10 people) and a lack of sharp knifes / sharpener. Might just be a symptom of us going off-season though and we didn’t bother buying those for two nights. The house is located directly between canals with all sorts of fauna – swans, ducks, fish, storks and tons of sheep – you have a clear view over the typical dutch flat land and can enjoy it in the huge, well groomed garden. There are no direct neighbors to the house – Contact with the Landlord was good, answered the few questions we had and provided all the needed information.

“A very special trip”

The home was the heart of a very special trip. Only made better by the lovely town, landscape and surroundings. It was peaceful – yet only 30 mins or less from
everything on our list of places to visit while in Holland. We came as a family of six and had more than enough room. We looked forward to the mornings on the deck sitting on the edge of the canals, and evenings cooking together and enjoying the sun sets. Could not ask for a better home stead for our vacation. We’ll hope to return again sometime!

“A lovely house in a beautiful area”

Our family of 6 spent a week here enjoying the local area and taking day trips to local towns and to Amsterdam. Cycling around the polder area was very interesting and easy, this was our first trip to the Green Heart of the Netherlands. Gouda and Leiden are both worth a visit, we really enjoyed the Windmill museum in Leiden and buying/eating mature Gouda cheese in Gouda town square. The house is comfortable and well maintained. Everyone we met was friendly. I’m sure we’ll be back to the area someday.

“Perfect for our writers’ retreat”

In November, eight of us rented the Chestnut Farmhouse (5 bedrooms) and accompanying Lodge (2 bedrooms) for our fall writing retreat. It was the ideal place for long, leisurely meals in the kitchen and lots of critiquing and brainstorming in the large living room by the wood stove.
Lovely countryside, with a butcher and grocer and other basic shops five minutes away by car.
Highly recommended.

“Fantastic place in centre of Holland!”

A perfect place, we felt very welcome. You feel at home and it was spotlessly clean. There were even free logs avaible for the fire. Lots of nice things to do in de neighborhood. We will come again!!

“Comfortable and pleasant house at a very Dutch
countryside spot”

We stayed at both the Chestnut Farmhouse and Lodge for a weekend with group of thirteen people. Everyone, old and young enjoyed the stay. Large living, allowing to do things jointly but also to sit separate to read a book. Great cousy atmosphere. The garden has many different quiet places to sit, the only thing we missend was the sun. I can recommend the accomodation.

“Beautiful and peaceful location”

We had a wonderful time in the Chestnut Lodge. The surroundings were beautiful and the local village had everything we needed. Had a great time at the local open air pool and on the boating lake. House was fitted and furnished to a very high standard and the owner was very helpful. Would definitely stay again.

“Lovely, cozy, beautiful”

Stayed over New Year with an extended family of 9. Ages ranged from 3 months to 80 years. We all loved it and had a great time. Lovely house, Living room in particular really cozy. Lovely area. Cannot recommend the house highly enough. Ticks all the boxes. Looking forward to staying again some time soon. Leaving was the hardest part of the whole experience.
